NUMBER OF HORSES LOST, 225. Per Press Association. Auckland, April 23. The firm’s loss was probably about £II,OOO over the insurances. As far as can be ascertained, 22) horses were burned, of a total value of about ,-CSOOO. The clearing away of carcases of tbe unfortunate animals commenced this morning, and will he finished tomorrow morning. The carcases are being taken by a scow to the Hauraki Gulf and dumped into the .sen. During the firm’s forty years’ operations this is the first fire they have, experienced.
