PROPOSED TOUR OF N.S.W. United Pbebs Association. (Received 9.10a.m.) Sydney, April 23. The Rugby League, after considering New Zealand's request to post-' pone their tour till a later date, deci-j ded, in view of the season's arrange-.j meats being already complete, to New Zealand to adhere to the Juno itinerary, it did not anticipate that, the decision will cause the abandonment of the tour. j The Daily Telegraph comments as .follows:—The excuse of the president of the. New Zealand League for 'rending a team to Australia shows the difficulty he has to discover any justification for the scheme, which is quite contrary to the spirit which dominates other sporting bodies in NewSouth Wales. After the splendid manner in which sportsmen responded, and after all the recruits' sacrifices "I'j their sporting engagements in order to. drill, it is flaunting in their faces a challenge to send a team here. Apparently, if it should come, it will not he. thoroughly representative. This affords a strong reason for not attending matches. Because there is a war, there is no reason for assuming an attitude of gloom and , depression. The policy for most sporting bodies has been recognised, i.e., that the war has imposed on young men a d.i."y to serve at the front or to train for llio defence of Australia. The promoters ought to take the hint and drop the tour. - .* ;-",■<>--' .■'-;:*-
