LANDING OF 20,000 TROOPS. SHIPS BOMBARD BATTERIES. United Palais Association. (Received 9.30 a.m.) Berlin, April 22. A wireless message states that 20,000 English and French troops landed at Enos, at the mouth of the Maritz river. There has been a heavy cannonade between Turkish batteries and the Allies' ships. HEAVY TURKISH LOSSES. London, April 22. The fighting near Shabkadr was severe, and lasted for several hours. The enemy suffered heavily and retired to the hills. They are reported to have dispersed. Our losses were seventy killed and wounded. Official: The Turkish losses at Shaib'a are estimated at 2.500. The Turks are in disorganised retreat, both by road and river. Twelve, Arab craft were overtaken and sunk, and 515 prisoners brought to Basra. Our advanced cavalry occupied Makhailah. There is no enemy nearer than Rattavi, eighteen miles north-west of Makhailah.
