INCREDIBLE REPORTS. I HINTS OF GENERAL PEACE'. FRIENDLY RELATION WITH f , ENTENTE. United Press Association. (.Received 9 a.m.) London, April 22. A despatch from Rome says:— Within the last twenty-four hours persistent reports have arisen that grave international questions' connecting Italy may he solved in the near future hy what at first sight seems incredible, namely by the coii: elusion of general peace in Europe at no distant date. While the reports are not tangible and cannot be at present -ascribed to a definite source, they are reflected in high quarters, and are being given heed to hy careful observers in international politics.! Herr Yon Buiow is in Rome, and the official relations hetvven Italy and the Entente Powers are cordial. In certain quarters in Rome the idea prevails that the advent of spring has not seen as much of the resumption of agressive hostilities as was promised, and the fact is regarded as significant. NEGOTIATIONS UNPROCRESSIVE A REPORTED CONVERSATION. (Received 9 a.m.) Rome, April 22. The Message ro states that Herr Von J3ulow informed Senator Carai i that negotiations had not progressed and that if war broke out Germany Mould stand by Austria's side. Senator Carafa reported the conversation to Signor Salandra (Premier), who remained unmoved. Meanwhile, the negotiatio is have been resumed.
