Adjutant Cook and Lieutenant Mattingley are due in Stratford by the express to-night from the Congress in Wellington. Lord Crawford, premier ear! of Scotland, has enlisted as a private in the Roya! Army Medical Corps, says a - message to the Sydney Sun. Mr J. D. Fitzgerald lias been appointed to the \4ce-presidency of the Xew South Wales. Legislative Council. Mrs Kerr, relict of the late Hon. J. Kerr, died at Greymouth on Wednesday. The deceased lady was one of the oldest identities on the West Coast. Mr Harry Willis, who had been in a bad state of health for some time, died at'his homestead, Kapuni, on Monday night. Deceased leaves a widow, but no family. Mr W. D. Anderson (of Messrs Anderson and Wake, Auckland, and Zuessrs Anderson,lvutherfurd and Macalister, Stratford) arrived from the north this morning, and is spending a few days in Stratford. Miss Emmie Buroughs, an old Stratford School girl,- lias just been successful in passing the examination for the diploma of "Associate Pianist ot Trinity College, London." She also succeeded in passing in the "Art of Teaching Music." Miss Burroughs' old friends will be glad to hear of her success.
