Worthintgon and carried. 1). Watkin, Hniroa, wrote stating that a horse had been on the road and the railway for some time. The ranger had seen the horse a fortnight ago. hut had left the animal there. It seemed that there was dispute about the ownership.—The Chairman moved that the ranger's attention be drawn to the letter.—Seconded hy Cr. Baskin and carried. C. F. Scott, Stanley lioad, wrote complaining ot cattle straying on his turnips, lie understood the Council had given permission to allow cattle to graze on the roads. The damage done to his turnips he estimated at ,‘j()s. First, said the writer, someone burns the fences; then the cattle soon make holes and get on to the turnips. It seemed that the bullocks were then to fatten! Then the watertahles gel Idled up and knocked about.—Cr. Coleman moved that the clerk write and state that the Council had not given permission to graze cattle on the County roads, and that Mr Scott should impound them.- Seconded by Cr. Walter and carried.
