HIS WORSHIP THE MAYOR.
[in The Editor Sthatfouo Rost.] Sir, —Mr. Kirkwood has committed the solecism of personally addressing me in a letter to you. Snell a breach of good manners is too much lor me and I propose to discontinue a correspondence that is evidently on the verge of rudeness. W hat 1 have written was written with the intention of being of - some service to the public, and has possibly served a useful purpose. It was written against ihe .Mayor’in Ids official capacity and should have been defended, if a dofence was possible, ironi an official point of view. I ins has not been done, and it seems unlikely that it could bo done. “No ease; abuse the other side,” seems to have been the principle guiding Mr Kirkwood. 1 leave tho matter now to the judgment of ratepavers. —1 am, etc., HENRY WILSON.
