11 hi strati up; the Increase in the cost of living in the past year, a witness at the Arbitration Court at Christchurch on Wednesday produced a detailed list of expenditure in food and fuel. The list (says the Lyttelton Times) was compiled from records, and showed, said the witness, that Lis 8d in April. 1914, could purchase as much as 20s in April, 1915. His Honor Mr Justice Stringer, inspecting the list, remarked that meat, eggs, and lioni seemed to have caused the difference.
