N.Z. SHIPPING CO.

AN "UNSEAWORTHY" VESSEL. Plill PItESS LrtSSOCUATIUiN. Auckland, April 20. Mr Page, S.M., gave his reserved decision this morning in the case Wilson and;Morton against the New Zealand Shipping Co., a claim for £lOl os 2d •for uamage done to rolls of paper in■jurcd by sea water on the voyage ot the Knight of the Carter from Canada to Auckland. Me said the case resolved into the question whether the vessel was unseaworthy, or that the goods were negligently stowed, and found that the structure erected to strengthen the doorway in the bulkhead was inadequate to meet weather reasonably to be expected in ordinary conditions. In respect of this structure defendants were liable for sucn Carnage as could be shown had resulted from this cause. Counsel -agreed that the amount would probably be settled between the parties.
