Paris, April 18. ; The official details of the capture of Idisorule in the Champagne district ii March Show that a regiment of German guards occupied a strong defeniive position in a wood. The foremost French trench was a hundred lards distant, but the French regi|eht surprised the defenders of a irench 300 yards long, having killed ill except three prisoners. There was t general attack next day. On all fides in battle the day long we were Completely successful. We occupied 'i wood and counted several hundred jorpses. The Germans on the foliowDg morning made a strong counter ttta*ek and wore Algerian blouses takjn'from our dead. The ruse failed, ind a withering machine-gun fire deck pated the attackers, and hundreds frere killed. Our troops fought with magnificent dash, having learned that }he guards were torturing the wound*d. The result of-the battle was that. »yer two-thirds of the guards were lestrojed, we having three hundred killed.. We advanced half a mile on a 550 yards front. THE BATTLE AT YPRES. : J _j ' (Received 9.55 a.m.) Amsterdam, April 18. An official message from Berlin' states: Tlie Biulisli blew Up a German position smith-east of Yp'res, north ttf the canal. The British were driven out of one crater, but still occupy three. The battle still continues.
