COUNCILS AND COUNCILLORS.
[To Thm Editor Stratford Post.] Sir, —Of late your journal has heei the solace of my evening hours, aid with delight have I perused the col nmns of matter emanating from tin late* lamented members of a detune Council. The era was peaceful. 1 was soothing to turn from the wa news to paragraphs that flowed witl milk and honey, and to read the path etic farewells tendered hy each am every dear departed. Singly, the; arose, and with tears in their voices related what a joy and a pleasure I had been to attend meetings that re called days in Sunday School. Wha a reflection of happy brotherhood wa there! But the report of the Lighting Committee! That was some reading The report was late. Why ? Weil we paid £IOO for an Engineer’s ad vice, and it was a lengthy document The expert spent a long time gettiir up to date informaiton. Experts ar too slow. We soon fixed it. "What ho! A little trip to Feildiug and th thing was done. Just fancy, Mr Edi tor! This marvellous body of me: arranged a scheme to light the tow; .at somewhere about one-fourth of thi experts figure, and in as many hour as he took weeks! They ought to h reported for sweating! But, alas “Whom the Gods love, die young,’ and a new Council must take up th brush to complete the picture unfit ished by the artists. Ye Gods! an what a picture! Two blocks of till main street have been kerbed an! channelled two different widths—veil picturesque! The levels of the foot! paths have been altered, but not th paths themselves—very artistic! Com forward, you new Councillors! Yo brave men! And may fortune fa vox you for you will want it all! You ai asked to instal a new lighting plai. and you are assured that the Electr cal Supply Company will melt down it plant without a murmur! You ai committed to build new Cliambei with a row of windows on top like boot factory! You are faced with fading water supply, an incompletfl drainage system,, an antiquated fill brigade, and a weed-strewn area <1 side footpaths! Buck up!—l am, etcl “HIGH ART.” I
