THE SITUATION CRITICAL. CONVERSATIONS BEING CONTINUED. (Received 8 a.m.) London, April 16. A correspondent at Rome says:—■ The situation is undoubtedly critical. Now, for the first time, there is reason to think Italian intervention is imminent. There is good cause to believe that Italy has finally tabled her demands. The concessions demanded of Austria-Hungary exceeded what could possibly be accepted. It is likely the conversations will be continued for a little. Austria is interpreting the communication, and a basis of bargaining with the Austrian officials has been reached. PROLONGED MEETING OF ITALIAN CABINET. (Received 8.25 a.m.) Paris, April 16. Le Matin describes a prolonged meeting of the Italian Cabinet, when the military question was discussed. Fourteen decrees were formulated, but the list will not be divulged until neutrality is abandoned.
