STRATFORD HOSPITAL.

At the' monthly meeting of tlio Stratford Hospital and Charitable Aid Board this morning, there were present Messrs J. McAllister (chairman), C. D. Sole, E. Walter, A. Meredith, J. Smith, E. Hine. REPORTS. The Medical Superintendent (Dr. D. Steven) reported : During the month of March seventeen patients were admitted, eleven were discharged, and one died. Seventeen remained in hospital at the end of the month. Thirteen operations were performed under anaesthetics. The matron. Miss O'Brien, is at present taking her annual holiday. He had no recommendation to make in connection witb the wardsman's wages. He also applied for holidays from May Ist.—Approved.

The sanitary inspector (Mr A. Gray) reported for the month ending April 10th : Infectious Diseases.—One case,of phthisis was notified in Stratford County. The patient was removed to New Plymouth Hospital, and tho usual precautionary measures were taken against spread of the disease. General.—Stratford Borough: Five hotels were inspected, and recommendations made in connection with four. The butchers' shops, fish shops, and marts were inspected. Stratford County: One nuisance was investigated and reported on. Two hotels were inspected and recommendations made in connection with one. One bakehouse and one butcher's shop was inspected. In one instance an accumulation of manure was asked to be removed. Whangamomona County.—One hotel was inspected, and recommendations made in connection with same. One boardinghoti.se, one restaurant, one butcher's shop, and one bakehouse were inspected. The secretary reported that he had interviewed contractors for food supplies, and in spite of a genera] rise in price, the terms agreed upon were considered by members of the Board to be very favorable, and the report was adopted. Accounts were passed for payment. CORRESPONDENCE. The New Zealand Times Co. wrote re subscription.—The subscription is to be I con tinued. An application for position as probationer nurse was received from Miss A. Wilson. The Inspector-General of Public Health wrote enclosing copies of extracts from the regulations regarding the keeping of accounts by Hospital and Charitable Aid Boards.—The secretary to get the necessary books.
