THE ATTEMPTED ASSASSINATION. United Press Association. Cairo, April 10, The Sultan had a narrow escape. The Grand Master of Ceremonies, noticing the man step into the road, called out to a policeman, who knocked the assassin’s hand, and the bullet struck the hrasswork of the hood. The assassin, a evil-looking follow, adopted an attitude of bravado, and said the Sultan had usurped the position and deserved to be shot. He had been in Cairo for four days awaiting his opportunity. He denied having accomplices. His cousin has been arrested at Mansnrah, owing to bis previous suspicions movements at Constantinople.
FRENCH EXPEDITIONARY FORCE AT ALEXANDRIA. Paris, April 10. Official: The expeditionary force completed their Levant voyage under the best conditions, and disembarked at Alexandria, where they are prepared to aid the Allied fleets and the British expedition. ALLIED AIRMEN DROP BOMBS. Amsterdam, A pill 10. Allied au'lneu on Thursday evening dropped seven bombs on the German position at Knocke. The result is unknown. The Germans shot fire-balls, brilliantly illuminating the sky without locating the airmen.
