New Zealand holds the world’s record in motor cycling. This is in connection with the recent trial of a < h.p. Indian cycle and side-car, ridden on the main roads between Duned’u and Christchurch, •Christchurch to Akaroa, and Christchurch to Hammer respectively, iu all, a distance .>• 1600 miles, which Mr J. Hinds, of Christchurch, completed in about hall an hour under 80 hours, without once stopping the engine of the machine. The second return trip from Dunedin to Christchurch on Sunday w'a.s a good one, and the final sections of the course to Akaroa and Hanmer were ;ilso accomplished without trouble. The distance was covered in four lays, and was conducted under the auspices of the Canterbury Motor Club. Beyond about live punctures, which were quickly dealt with, the entile course was travelled without mis. hap, aqd the feat must be qonsiejered a most praiseworthy one.
