RIFLE SHOOTING.
REMARKABLE SUCCESSION OF "BULLS." Some wonderful shooting was witnessed at the Redcliffs range in the Chapman Memorial Match in the South island Championship series. Two possibles of 50 were registered, the conditions being ten shots at 700 yards. There were three 49's and 'several 48's and 47's. It is Might years since a possible was put on at 700 yftYds at Itedcliffs, and the first man'to break the spoil was Anderson, representing Waitalri Boy's High School. The marksman who preceded Anderson got bull's-eyes with his last six shots, so that when Anderson huisi'.cd there were .sixteen consecutive "bulls" on the target. Cuthbertson followed on the same target ],|) and put on two more bulls, making eighteen in succession. The next man down at the same target w;.s Rifleman I). Boots (Patea), who made the second possible. He was followed by Rifleman J. Bryden (Kaiapoi), whose first nine .shots were "bulls," making thirty-seven in succession. Bryden's last shot was an inner, so that he finished with a score >f -19. It is doubtful if ever before in Life history of rifle shooting in the Dominion, lias there been such a tveord made in one day on one target. The leading scores Were:—-Anderson 50. Boots .50, l'\ Richards (Kaiapo.i) 49, linden 19. Carter 19, West 48, Ching (R.N.Z.A.) 48, Richardson 48, Franks 48, W. H. Ballinger 47, Jones 17, Cuthbertson 47. McLachlan 47.
