The Sultan, who gave audience to a party of American journalists, said: "I am convinced the Dardanelles cannot be forced. It is* very unjust that the Allies should want to force the Dardanelles just to import Russian foodstuffs. It is impossible to express my high opinion of German valour and «fficiency."
