INVASION OF HUNGARY. RUSSIANS POURING THROUGH THE PASS. United Pbesb 'Association. London, April 8, The Daily Mail's Petrog'-ad coi respondent states that hitherto the Russians in the Carpathians have been Compelled to advance in single coluirn, but the capture of Rostock Pass enables them to move up mo.-e compact bodies. Already Hungarian villages are in their hands,' including Polyena, where the high road to the [lain begins. The Russians are now pourmg through the pass, and Hungary is Idled with terror at their approach. The Russian are penetrating the chief range in the Carpathians with huge forces, and will compel the 'Hermans and Austriaus to fall back for fear that their communications will be endangered. Nothing short of a miracle can avert Austrian humiliation.
TROOPS FROM POLAND TO ASSIST AUSTRIA. ' (Received 8.-15 a.m.) London. April 8. More German troops are being sent from Poland to assist the Anstrians. CERMANS MAKE ENORMOUS SACRIFICES. Petrograd April 8. Official: All the summits in the principal chain oi' the Bwskid Moantains are in our hands. On April 6 we made prisoners 2.100 men and took three guns. The German attacks of the last three weeks in the region of Kosiouvka and Rozanka have been abandoned, after enormous sacrifices. The enemy's composition has been changed several times.

Petrograd reports that in the Carpathians, despite reinforced counterattacks, the Russian offensive was continued at the river Toplia, and in the region in the direction of Uszok Pass. All summits on principal chain of Deskid Mountains, west of the village of Estzzki Gornyia are in the hands of the Russians, who are capturing a succession of southern spurs. On Monday they took 2900 prisoners, three guns, and several machine guns. The German attacks in the region of Koksauvka Rozanka ceased on Saturday week. Operations with a view to breaking the Russian front were begun by the Germans on February Ist, but after eight weeks the assaults failed, lit the German regiments, consequent on the enormous losses, the composition has changed three or four times. The abandonment of German attacks is a recognition of the uselessne.ss of enormous sacrifices that have heen made. On Tuesday the Germans attacked in the legion of Suwalki unsuccessfully. The same day. near Lilian, a German seaplane was sunk, and the aviators 1 who had devoted their energies to dropping bombs on the peaceful town of Libau, were rescued ami made prisoners.
