TURKISH CRUISER SUNK IN THE BLACK SEA. Petrograd, April -1. It is semi-officially reported that tlie Medjinieh, a Turkish cruiser, was mined and sunk on the Russian coast on Saturday. DOOM OF THE TURKISH EMPIRE. London, April 4. The Times' Sofia correspondent writes: "Travellers arriving from Dedagatch describe pi\blic feeling at Constantinople as depressed, little credence being given to the Government statement of the impregnability of the Dardanelles. Jt is generally feared that a great catastrophe is impending, sealing the doom of the Turkish Empire. It is known ,that war munitions are running short, and hope is abandoned of obtaining German supplies through Itpumania and Bulgaria. German officers, fearing a nocturnal mutiny, sleep aboard ships." FORTIFYING CONSTANTINOPLE. Sofia, April 4. Travellers that the Turks are feverishly coflptucting forts at San Stefano for heavy guns. Thousands of troops are making ammunition. (San Stefano is a holiday resort on the Sea of Marmora, seven miles southwest of Constantinople).
