THE WAR CORRESPONDENT. Per Press Association. Wellington, March 31. The advisory committee of newspaper editors chosen h.v the Press Associa* tioii to advise the Government in the matter of selecting an ollicial war correspondent from the .forty-six applications received narrowed the list down to four names. They are given in alphabetical order as follows:—Mr K. Doidge, chief of staff, “Star,” Auckland; Mr E. V. Hall, editorial staff, “Evening Post,” Wellington; Air M. Ross, special correspondent, Christchurch “Press*” “Otago Daily Times,” ami other papers, Wellington'; Mr S. Waters, suh-cditoi ial staff, Christchurch “Press.” Mr Malcolm Ross has been appointed.

KILLED IN ACTION.

Christchurch, March 31. Private advice has been received in Christchurch of the death of Major Robertson, of the 4th Sea forth Highlanders, killed in action at Ncuve Chapelle. Ho was a brother of Mr R. M. Robertson, of the Bank of Now Zealand, Christchurch, and Mr J. M. Robertson, of the Napier staff of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd. STRATFORD BRITISH AND BELGIUM RELIEF FUND. AJready acknowledged, £ll9B 3s lOd ; Ackhuul Road school picnic, £l6; Bird Road School picnic, concert and gift auction, £3O; Croquet Club, garden fete, £34 18s 6d ; C. J. E. Burrell (sth); £5; Tuna School, picnic* and prize fund, includes special donation of £5 by J. H. Kirkby, £22 12s lOd. Total, £1306 15s 2d. The committee also wish to acknowledge the gift of three vealors from .Messrs Hann Bros., tlio proceeds of which is expected to lie £5.
