LAWN TENNIS.
’ Oli Saturday the Gills’ Tennis Team of the Stratford District High School played their lir.st match at New Plymouth against the Girls’ High School team. The weather was exceptionally fine, though windy. The play on both sides' was very good, and at times very exciting. The match resulted ip a win by two games for the New Plymouth team. The scoring was as follows (New Plymouth players being mentioned first:—P. Heal 6 v. B. Rodgers 2, T, Monteath 4 v. P. Wells 6, A. Warren 6 v. E. Leech 3, A. George 3 v. R. Kennedy 6, F. Evans 2 v. M. Leech 6, E, Bullard 6 v. I. Boon 5. Doubles—P. Heal and T. Monteath 7 v. B. Rodgers and P. Wells 4, A. Warren and A. %eorge 5 v. E. Leech and R. Kennedy 7, F. Evans and E. Bullard 7 v. M. Leech and I Boon 5, The visiting team were entertained, at lunch and afterwards at afternoon tea, and altogether spent a very enjoyable day..
