MAN LOST OVERBOARD.

Wellington, March 28

An ordinary seaman was lost from the steamer Westmeath on Wednesday, en route from Gisborne to Waitara. The man was'H. Vincent, aged nineteen, a native of Avonmouth. No one saw the accident, but Vincent was working on the boat deck cleaning paintwork, and presumably fell overboard. When he was missed a search was made, the vessel cruising about for an hour and a half, but no .sign was seen of Vincent, and the voyage was resumed.
