WEEKLY REPORT
. We held our opening sale at Opunake on Monday, the 22nd inst. Our yards were inadequate to hold the 'stock that came forward, but thanks to the kindness of the N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Co. we were able to fill their yards also. Just over 2000 head of cattle were yarded, the great bulk of which were sold. Bidding was very brisk throughout the sale, every class of cattle, with the exception of weane'r heifers, being eagerly competed for. The following were some of the prices realised for the different classes of cattle:—Grown steers £7 10s to £6 8s 6d, 1 Bmouths steers £4 5s to £3 18s, do. heifers £3 2s 6d to £2 12s 6d, heifers (r.w.b.) good £3 15s, weaner steers £2 3s to 255, cows (fat) £9 16s to £8 2s 6'd, cows (forward) from £7 to £5 according to size and condition, bulls £l4 to £8 10s.
At Manaia on Tuesday we had a fair yarding, despite the bleak wet day. The cattle yarded Avere all cows, and met with a ready sale, prices again being in favor of the vendor.
