TE WERA DOG TRIALS.
One of the most successful trials in the history of the Te Wera Dog Trials Club was concluded yesterday, the two.days meeting being held in good [weather. Weather counts a lot from the spectator's point of view, as the view, of dog trials from under an umbrella is not a very inviting prospect. The attendance, however, was not as good as usual, owing no doubt to clashing with the Toko Sports.
The 'work in the two heading events was not up to the usual standard, but in the huntaway and also in the local class the work was exceptionally good. The winner of Mr W. A. Hewitt's gold medal for youth scoring most points was won by Master B. Perrott with Snider. His performance was watched with interest. The Club's silver cup for dog scoring most points in classes 1 and 2, was won by Mr Cleland's Troy; last year Mr Cleland won with Floss. Mr Meredith's, special for married man scoring most points in'classes 1,2 and 3 was won by Mr V. Nolan with Snider. Snider's performance in the Huntaway was perfect, doing the course in four minutes, scoring 33 points out of a possible 35. Mr Nolan also won the Auctioneer's silver cup for local dog scoring the highest points in this class, a similar performance to his Nell's of last year. Mr K. Summerhayes with Loop won Wilson and Son's special for single man scoring most points an classes 1> 2 and 3. . In addition to winning the youth's gohT isisdal, B.: Perrott won the A. and gold medal for man (who -had iieyer won a prize) scoring (most points, in the .first two classes. F; Frank with.'Jack was runner up in the youth's class, and was awarded Mr W.P; Kirkwood's silver medals Mr Berwick won the local event with Scott,.,and was also runner up in married man's class, securing the Co-op Stores special. The sheep supplied by Messrs Budge and Good, through their manager, Mr Berwick, were 4-tooth wethers, ; and a credit to the district. . Mrs Flynu catered very well for the meeting ; this means a good deal, as the wants of the inner man at a full day's meeting takes some appeasing. The committee's arrangements were admirably carried out, Ml* Nolan as secretary, working hard for the success of &ie meeting. Mr Nolan is an and the Te Wera Trials people have the: right man. Mr J.
