PERSONAL.
The- Royal Geographical Society awarded the Founders' Medal to Sir Douglas Mawson, and the Murchison award to Professor Davis. Sir James Wilson. K.C.M.G., and Sir Geo. Hogben, C.M.G., were yesterday morning invested by His Excellency the Governor with the insignia of the honors recently conferred upon them by His Majesty. Mr Bruce Stewart, manager, was in Stratford yesterday making arrangements for Professor Clement Wragge's filial visit here next Thursday. A "Wellington Press Association message states that the two names recommended to the Government by the Committee by selection for the position of Official War Correspondent are Mr Malcolm Ross, journalist, Of Wellington, and Mr E. Hall, a member of the literary staff of the Wellington Evening Post. A later correction of this message reads: The "Times" this morning publishes the names of Messrs Ross and Hall as the two nominees 'for the position of war correspondent. •The Press Association is requested to j state that thp report that-,, only two I candidates have been nominated is inaccurate, and that, in fact, four names I were sent in bv the Committee."
