£2300 FOR A BALE OF WOOL.
As a contribution to the Patriotic Fund, a bale of wool was given some months ago by Messrs Mackay Bro tliers, and was offered for sale by auction at Sydney. The bale was sold at various sums, ranging from £lO to £6O, and each buyer in turn offered it for sale until the buying was exhausted, the total realised being £SOO. At the unanimo.us wish of the various purchasers, the bale was consigned to the secretary of the London Wool-sell-ing Brokers’ Association, to be dealt with as he thought fit for the benefit of one of the patriotic funds. The chairman of the Associated London Wool-selling Brokers, Air Reginald B. Jaeomb, offered it for sale on January 27 at the Wool Exchange. Each successive buyer put it up for sale again until £1661 had been realised. The bale, which weighed about 3501 b., was finally sold at 2s 0)d per lb. Aliss Jean Jaeomb was the eventual buyer.
