The HiglwCommissioner’s market report, dated London, March 20th, is as follows; — Mutton.—The market is firm with fair demand. The stocks ol mutton on hand are light. Butter. —The market is not quite so firm. Danish per cwt., 146 sto 148 s, Xeiv Zealand 142 s to 1435, occasionally 1445, Australian 138 sto 1425, Siberian 132 s to 13Gs, Argentine 136 s to 138 s. Cheese.—The market is linn, but the demand is only moderate by tbc trade generally. It is on account ot the requirements for the Government that the market remains firm. Canadian per cwt., »94s to 965, New Zealand 93s to 945, Australian 90s to 91s, States* 86s to 90s. Hemp.—The market is firm and prices advanced, owing to advices from Manila indicating an unsettled position, shortage of freight, and dry weather. There is disorganisation owing to the new regulations regarding grading. New Zealand good fair grade per ton £33, fair £3l. fair current Manila £37 10s, forward shipment April to June, New Zealand good fair £33 los, fair £3l lbs, fair current Manila £39. The output from Manila for the week is 23,000 bales. Wheat.—The market is quiet, but firm, on account of Government purchases. Canadian per quarter 645, American 645, Argentine 625. Oats.—The market is firm with improved demand. New Zealand oats (short Sparrowbills) ex Granary, per quarter of 3841b5, 355. ELTHAM AUCTION MART. Messrs King and Stibbs report as follows on their weekly sale held on Saturday last: We had a record attendance. and practically every line olfered found a buyer. Pigs.—Weaners 7s, better class 13s. Poultry.—Hens Is to Is 6d, cockerels to 9d, ducks Is 6d and Is 7d. Fruit.—Apples 2s 6d to 3s, pears 3s 3d to 3s 6d, tomatoes 2s 6d to 3s according to quality, cucumbers Is 6d, quinces 3s 6d. A large quantity of furniture was offered and found ready sale at prices satisfactory to the vendors. Sundries •offered also found good competition.
