GOOD HEIFERS.
It is officially reported from tlie United States that the Holstein-Friesian heifer Finderne Holingen Fayne has now broken the record for fat production in the junior 3-year class of the “eight months’’ division, by producing in seven consecutive days 17.5621bs fat from 3861bs milk, the record beginning 298 days after calving. She calved at the age of 3-years, 4 months, 14 days. Finderne Holingen Fayne now holds the record for her class in all four of the butter-fat prize divisions, the only other cow to gain that honor being Colantha Ith’s Johanna. She is credited to February Ist with 9821bs fat in 313 days; and as she has yet .52 days to complete. her year’s work, she bids fair to win the world’s record for butterfat production. Mr M. H. Gardener, superintendent of advanced registry tests reports as follows under date of January 23: “1 am pleased to be able to report that the Holstein-Friesian heifer Elmside Nadine Scgis Johanna has broken the record for milk production in the junior 2-year class of the semi-official yearly division, by producing in 36-5 consecutive days 22,,802.31bs milk containing 706.4 lbs butter-fat. She calved at the age of 2 years, 2 months, 25 days. She is owned by the City of Cleveland, Ohio, and displaces Dutchland Colantha Vale in this class, whose record for 365 days is 22,750.21bs milk, containing 685.95 lbs fat. Ten different supervisors were employed in the conduct of the test.”
