COMMONWEALTH CABLES.

PREMIER?’ CONFERENCE. Unitpu Press Association. (Received 10.30 a.m.) Melbourne, March 18. Mr Fisher (Commonwealth Premier) states that he is considerably impressed with the value of an Australasian conference such as he recently discussed with Mr Massey. It might lead to reciprocal arrangements,, in trade and other matters, and would certainly tend to the cultivation of a better acquaintance. Among the subjects suitable for discussion \yas the question of reciprocity regarding the Workers’ Compensation Act, and the entering into an agreement by which the family wage-earner who was incapacitated when beyond the confines of his own State, would receive benefit through the legislation of the country to which he belonged. Other questions were statistics, defence, cable rates, currency reciprocity, and the interchange of goods. Mr Fisher said he had not suggested a date for the first conference. It might be worth while considering whether 1 it'cofftd ifot be' ivßrked in connection with the Premiers’ conference to be held in May.
