SOMERSAULT OF FASHION.
SLIM-ANKLED MAIDENS AND SHORT SKIRTS. Times and Sydney Sun Service. (Received B.U a.in.) Loudon, March 16. Controversy rages round the somersault of fashion in decrying the fuller skirt. A correspondent urges that women in these anxious times deserve consolation in the matter of new dresses. Others declare that the drastic charges are cruel, women with small incomes being unable to buy new clothes, and are compelled to continue w’earing tight skirts, which advertise their poverty. The fashion is only benefit ting the dressmakers. Paris, says that age and the ankle de. cide the length of the skirt, which slim-ankled maidens are wearing short. A woman must look supple. With a loose waist free chest, and properlybalanced footwear, she ought to achieve the movements of Diana. It was the graceful walk which caused the tight skirt to be under-parted.
