SYDNEY WOOL SALES. United Press Association. Sydney, March 15. The wool sales were resumed to-day with strong demand. Prices were on a par with tlie close of last week. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. Tlie High Commissioner cables under date March 13th : Xote: Quotations unless otherwise described are average market prices on spot. The meat market is unaffected by the increase of arrivals of chilled beef. There is less demand for all descriptions of frozen mutton, but the market is firm notwithstanding. Mutton: North Island 6d for best quality, ordinary quality ojd, ewes 5 9-lGd, lamb other than Canterbury 7;|d, second grade 7kl. Beef: New Zealand hinds (i.'.d, fores 6£d, chilled hinds 6Jd, fores S|d.
The butter market is very firm. Danish 146 s to 148 s, New Zealand l3Bs to 140 s, exceptionally good 1425, Australian 136 s to 138 s, exceptionally good 1-los, Siberian 130 s to 1345, Argentine 134 s to 138 s. The cheese market is very firm, owing to the continued demands for the Government. Holders are firm. The Somerset should dock some time today. The Canadian supply is practically exhausted. Canadian white coloured 94s to 965, New Zealand firm, white colored 92s to 945, United States 86s to 90s, English Cheddar firm at 98s to 10'2s, Australian 89s to 92s
The hemp market is rather more active, and there is a better demand. New Zealand good fair grade £32, fair €3O, fair—current Manila £36 10s any position. The output from Manila for the week is 24,000 hales. Quotations always include war risk. The wheat market is steady, but there has been considerable fluctuation in the prices. Buyers are holding back, and holders are not disposed to yield, as the Argentine report is unfavorable. Canadian 625, American 625, Argentine 61s. The wool market strong.
