OPUNAKE RACING CLUB.
(.Votes by Cicero.)
The Opunake Racing Club will bold their annual meeting to-morrow. When one considers the difficulty in landing horses at the course (the majority have to walk in the vicinity of 30 miles) it is surprising that such "backs" as Charminade, Styrax, Quo Yadis, Calais, Avon Pari;, and others are found amongst the acceptors. The hall will be set rolling with the Maiden Plate, for which event sixteen figure on the card. Stratford-owned horses in Flying Camp, Cornice, Top Twig, and Manifest appear amongst the entries. The last named has been responsible for some good work (fix the track, but will have to do his best to beat Patronata,

A numberof smart sprinters will line up lor the Flying Handicap. Avon Park will only have to reproduce Wanganui form to pay a dividend. In her absence Fortify should run well. The field for the Cup promises to be small. Quo Vadis and Styrax are nicely handicapped, and should be well supported. A large number will face the starter for, the Electric. Ziwn (who will be ridden by Nodder), and Escort, who has a lot of pace, may provide a good finish.
A crowd of moderates appear in the Welter. Patronata may have to shoulder a penalty and will have some difficulty in beating Lady Amai.
The President's Handicap has drawn ten acceptors, but the possibilities are not more than six will start. Ngapoto and Quo Vadis (if started) should divide favouritism. = The meeting will close with the Farewell Handicap, and investors should make Avon Park favorite.
