Bosnia-Herzegovina, which had. since the Treaty of Berlin in 1878, been occupied and administered by AustriaHungary, was in October, 1908. formally annexed to the Empire. The capital is Serajevo (population 51,919) where the Archduke Francis Ferdinand was murdered. The area of the province is 19,702 square miles, with a population of 1,962,411.
