WOMEN SENTENCED TO IM-
PRISONMENT FOR FRAUD.
(Received 9.20 a.m.) London, March 13. Lady Ida. Sitwell was sentenced to thirteen months' imprisonment and Julian Field to 18 months, while Oliver Herbert was acquitted on a charge of conspiracy to defraud Miss Dobbs of £6OOO.
Lady Sitwell, under cross-examin-ation, said her husband had several times previously paid her debts. Sho admitted that she asked her son (who is an officer in a crack regiment), to induce fellow officers to back her bills, and promised to use her family influence to get men elected to the Marlborough Club, and women (including Dobbs) into society.
Lady Sitwell borrowed £145 from her servants. • - s -
