The death is recorded of Mrs Birred, wife of the Right Hon. Augustine Birrell, Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland.

Mr Justice Edwards, who presided at the Supreme Court sittings in Nelson. is suffering from a chill, and is under treatment at a private hospital.

Mr E. W. Burton, S.M., is being transferred to the Bay of Islands circuit in the North Island. His succes. sor in the Goldfields district of Otago is not yet known, states the Otago Daily Times.
