IN DEFENCE.
[To The Editor Stratford Post.] Sir, —No exception can be taken to Mr .Joseph Thomas defending his fel-low-fanners from what he deems unmerited strictures, but it regrettable that he should indulge in the unworthy sneer that disfigures the latter portion of Ids letter. Those who know Mr Curtis best know that his philauthropby is not merely that of the ready cheque book, but that he is an indefatigable worker in a good cause. Moreover, he is by no means lacking in those deeds which the poet says form
"That best portion of a good man's life, the little unremembered acts of kindness and of love."— L am, etc. T. HARRY PENN.
