The. wool sales were animated, there was a hardening of all sorts owing to the strong American and Continental competition. New Zealand "Awh<ea" top 17d, average 16^1.

At the wool sales competition was excitingly keen, and prices were fully maintained. Japanese .were large purchasers.
London, March 3. The American supply of wheat visible is 85,238.000 bushels.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company Limited, have received the following cablegram from their London house under date 2nd instant:—London wool sales: Merino, strong demand for America, Russia operating. As compared with sixth February, greasy is 10 per- cent., scoured 15 per cent., crossbred slips and scoured par to 5 per cent, higher. The market for crossbred greasy is firm at late rates.

Last Saturday I held my usual weekly sale with a fair entry of general produce, furniture, and a very large amount of fruit. I quote as follows: Hens Ls to Is 3d, others (good) up to 2s 3d, cockerels 9d to ls Gd, ducks Is (id to 2s 3d, geese 2s (kl to 3s, potatoes 5s to 7s cwt., cabbage Is to 2s, cauliflower 2s to 3s per dozen, apples 2s to (ss, pears 2s (id to 7s, peach 2s (id to Is (3d, plums 2s to 3s 6d, cucumbers 2s, tomatoes 2* 6d.
