FIRE.
Ahout midnight on Monday Mr LockleyVs private dwelling (on the main road, near Pihama) was totally destroyed by lire. Tin; outbreak occurred, it is reported, near one of the children's bedroom, Mrs Lockley being awakened by the smoke and noise of the crackling of tho fire. She gave the alarm and had great difficulty in
rescuing one of the girls from amidst the smoke, and no time to save anything. The loss to the family is severe,
as they had only time to escape from the burning building, the lire spreading quickly. We (Opnnake Times) believe there is no insurance on the furniture. The hoic-e belong-; to Mr
Duggnn. Much sympathy i* extended j to Mr and Mrs Lockley in their turn j of had luck.
