FIRES.
NAPIER FREEZING WORKS GUTTED. M Per Press Association. Napier, March 4. The North British Freezing Company's works was the scene of another fire early this morning. The outbreak started in the offices and spread to the freezing works, the former being, totally destroyed and the latter so seriously damaged that they will need rebuilding; About thirteen thousand carcases of mutton were destroyed. Fortunately a light easterly breeze was blowing, otherwise the whole of .the structures would have been razed.
The; i insurance on the works was £76,000 in the London. Lancashire, and Atlas offices. The damage was about £5760. The loss of meat, falls on the Government, who had taken over control.
