The N,s£v tpan and Mercantile AS* ©ncy Co., Ltd., Stratford branch} report as follows On Wednesday, 17th February) wo held our usual monthly sale in our Kohuratahi yards, when we hid a fair yarding of sheep and cattle, .nost of which were placed at full miff net values: —18 months steers (small/ to 58s 6d, 18 months steers (fair quality) 73s 6d to 755, 2 year old slteei'* 11 p to 80s, 2f year steers 103 s to 108 s 6d, 18 month heifers 41s to 50s, 3 year old heifers up to 102 s, store cows 97s 6d, fat cows £6 17s, bulls 87s 6d (small),, f.m. ewes 9s 7d to 10s 6d, 2 tooth wethers 16s 6d to 17s sd, f.m. rams Ign Our nest Kohuratahi sale will be held on the 4th March.

On Friday, 19th inst., we held our ■first sale in the .Matau districtMn Messrs Matthews, Garalin and .Co s, yards (by their kind permission), when we had a good yarding of' 3328 sheep and 120 head of cattle, of which 273/ sheep and 60 head of cattle were disposed of. There was a very large attendance of the public, bidding was brisk from the start, and the sale was a very successful one. 2 tooth wethers made 15s 7d to 17s Id, 2, 4 and 6 tooth wethers 18s, f.m. ewes (small) 10s t« 10s 7d, medium 10s lOd to 11s, fair up to 13s 3d, mixed ages ewes 9s 7d to 10s 9d, medium-lls lOd, fair 15s, 2 tooth ewes (small) 11s 5d to 14s 2d, forward ewes (small) 14s 2d to 16s lOd, cull lambs from 5s to 8s 9d, rape lambs (good quality) 10s 5d to 11s t d, woolly lambs 12s to 12s 3d, aged rams 3s 6d to 8s 6d, f.m. rams (cully) Us to 17s 6d, Lincoln rams up to 4£gns, Roriindy .f.m. rams 3$ to 4Jgns., 6 tooth rams l\ to l£gns., cows and calves (small) £4, 18 month; heifers (small) £2 12s, 2 year old heifers £5 6s 3d, 21 year-old steers 107 s6d to 117 s 6d, 20 month steers 67s 6d to 72s 6cl.

We offered on account of Mr G. L. Young, Matau, proceeds to go to tlie Belgian Relief Fund, 11 lambs, which were sold at 4s 6d each to Mr James Wallace. We also offered one lamb on account of Mr G. L. Young, proceeds to go to the same fund, which elicited very keen competition as follows,:—V, H.. Wo held our usual monthly sale in our To Wera yards on Monday, 22nd hist., when we had a fair yarding of 1020 sheep and 13»i head pf cattle, most of which we placed at satisfactory prices;—lß month heifers 49s to 52s 6d, 3 year old heifers (empty) £6 Is, 18 month heifers (small) £2 4s, empty store'cows £6 to £0 14s’, store cows 92s to 108 s, cows and calves (small) 70s 6tl, 18‘ mouth teers (small) 50s to 575, medium 42s to 655, bulls (2 year olds) 92s 6d to 120 s, 2 tooth wethers 15s Bd. 4 tooth wethers 19s, cull lambs 6s Id to 6s 3d, woolly lambs 11s, f.m. ewes 10s sd, 2 tooth ewes (small) 15s 9d, 4 and 5 year old owes 11s lid, forward ewes 14s 6d to 15s lOd, f.m. ewes 10s 6d, 2 tooth rams sgn. to medium 2 tooth rams 2*gns. to 3gus., Romney rams up to 3gns. Our suppiernentary sheep fair will bo held at Te Wera on sth March.

On Tuesday, 23rd hist., we held oui usual fortnightly sale in our Stratford yards, when we had a fair yarding d 460 head of cattle and 1030 sheep, most of the cattle and a considerable number of the sheep being sold at the following prices:—Good store cows (slightly lower) 108 s to 1335, medium and low conditioned 82s to 90s, small 66s to 78s 6d, forward cows from £7 to £7 15s, m.t. heifers £3 to £4 10s, 18 months heifers (small) £2 to £2 3s, medium £2 5s 6d, weaner heifers up to 275, 2J year steers £6 5s to £5 7s 6d, 18 month steers (small) £2 15s, medium £3 to £3 7s fid, weaner steers in good demand 29s to 32s 6d, 18 month 'bulls £3 2s 6d to £3 15s, small dairy bulls £4 17s fid to £6 ss, tinner bulls (medium) £7 2s fid to £7 12s fid,, heavier £7 15s to £9 Is, lambs (small) 8s fid, cull ewes 8s to Bs'fid, forward ewes 14s, mixed ages ewes 13s fid. Our Stratford supplementary sheep and ram fair will lie held on Monday, Bth March, and our usual fortnightly sale on Tuesday, 9th March. Since we last reported we have sold a largo qhahtity of stock privately at the following prices :—F.m. ewes 12s to 14s fid, 2 tooth ewe» 16s 4d to lfi s fid, 2 tooth wethers 16s fid to 16s 9d, forward ewes 14s 8d to 17s 3d, fats 18s, cull lambs 4s to 7s 9d, rape lambs 10s 3d to 10s fid, springing heifers up to £7, 18 month steers £3 5s to £3 10s fid, 20 month heifers £2 7s to £2 8s fid, weaner steers 29s to 38s.
