A. Adlaui. [n the absence of the chairman, Mr .1. Trimble, Mr Morton was called up,n to preside and leave of .absence lt as granted to Mr Trimble. FARMERS' EDUCATIONAL WORK. The few days I have had so far, I have pent in visiting and acting in an ad■isory capacity to a number of farmrs in the Nga?ro and Pembroke ltoad districts. TROUBLE OVER LAND SALE. A letter was read from Mr J. 13. line, M.l\, relative to the purchase f .section at Mohakau. Mr Masters explained that the Department had laid down the following •onditious in relation to the matter: — 1) That the exchange site should be old at £lO per acre; (2) that three cres should be given instead, of two. .ie had been appointed to inquire into ho matter and found that Mr Todd ,id pm chased the ten' acres, not Ml itockley. The motion was carried. GENERAL. The inspector's recommendations as > payments to sewing teachers were dopted. It was decided that sections 812, -•13, 811, 815, 850-3, in the town of Stratford, lie utilised for agricultural )!ots for the Stratford school.' The Tuna Committee wrote referring o the death of the headmaster, Mr J. A. Thomas, and suggesting that Mrs Thomas should be allowed some comlensation for the many improvements tffceted by him. The matter was referred to Mr Masters with power to ict. SCHOLARSHIP TRANSFERS. Permission was given for the transei\s of the following scholarships:—l\ '. Wickstecd from Stratford to Now Plymouth Technical. School; H. L. 7alder from Stratford to New Plymouth High School; Miss Blandford from Stratford to Wellington Girls' 'ligh .School; Miss J, S. Cook from Vow Plymouth High School to C-'is-lorno High School. OVERSEERS REPORT. The overseer, Mr C. Moore, reported : Musker's—The new school is completed and ready for occupation. With iho help of the committee, we removal the old school to another site and aimed it into a shelter shod. Ahititi and Okau—Both these schools wore painted outside; at Ahi. a'ti a new tank stand, lavatory basins ind drainage, and other repairs wore ittended to. The rank growth of grass round the \hititi school would be dangerous in •ase of fire, 1 would.respectfully suggest that the committee be asked to lave it cleared. Okolce This school was also paint•d outside and a few small repairs ateuded to. Bell Block—Now lavatory basins rere put in at this school. Tarata—Tlie paint work at Both chool and residence, and sundry reairs have also boon completed. Waroa—"We have made n start with lie additions to tho Warea school,
Tataraimaka—As authorised, the sawn timber is ordered for the proposed work at this place. JI the grant vere made in time to enable us to •outinue on from WarOa, it would be licaper and more convenient. Fitaroy—The tarring and sanding at he Fitzroy school have 'icei'i carried >ut satisfactorily. In regard to this cind of work, I wish to point out that, wiring and sanding is not sufficient ,o stand the very hard wear around he school building; it menus a continual expense in rccoatitig at short intervals to keep it satisfactory. It vould bo better for several reasons, to nit it down in proper asphalt even if t had to be done in sections. The report was adopted.
SCHOOL REQUIREMENTS.
The Matau committee was granted ft towards the cose of eradicating nox. ous weeds from the school grounds. An application from tiie Bird Road Committee for blinds and repairs was eferred to Mr .Masters to report up-
fhe matter of hiring the public ■all at Douglas for school purposes as referred to the inspector with io>ver to act.
The request of the returning* officer or the use of the schools in tho event if a contested election for the Licening Committee was complied with.
NOTICES OF MOTION.
The following notices of motion vere given:—Mr Masters to move that -be resolution restricting the adverising of teachers' vacancies to the 'aranaki Daily News and Herald be escinded.
Mr Marfell to move: That when ommittees desire, the usual spring lolidays be omitted, and the winter lolidays extended from June 25 to Inly 12.
