The Druids’ Conference is sitting here. The delegates last night were jofficially welcomed by the .Mayor (Mr la. M. Onglcy). The conferenc is prjsidod over by the Grand President, Bin. All'. Thompson. Last night was [mostly devoted to the president's address and the discussion thereon, and the balance-sheet. The Government 'Actuary’s report-for the period ended 1911 showed that the Order had made slight progress in its value, which stood at 17s 2d per head at that time. The President, in his address,’ said that many Druids had gone to the front, and owing to such a large number going, the new insurance scheme was greatly endangered, and the executive finally decided to unload the greater portion of their liabilities by reinsurance. The Order at the end of last year hacl 9871 financial members; there was a gain for the year in the sick and funeral fund of £3300; and in the insurance fund, of £4646.
