Victoria defeated South Australia by ten wickets, and gained the Sheffield Shield. South Australia, In their second innings, made 258 (Steel 43, Campbell, not out 37, James 23). Victoria, in their second innings, had no wickets down for 23.
On Friday last the Stratford High School team travelled to Tariki and played the Tariki (men’s) Club an allday match. The scoring was low on both sides, and the match was most even and keenly contested. Tariki, however, played their second innings with two men short. The visitors were most hospitably entertained, and thoroughly enjoyed the match. The special feature of the match was the bowling of McDonald, for the High School, who took seven wickets for 32 in the first innings, while in the second his average was 5 for 7.
