DYNAMITERS AT WORK.
Friday’s Opunake Times says:—On rrturday evening before 10 p.m. the antlers on the Kina road, or most if them, heard a loud explosion and the usual remark was made “wonder if the Germans are about,” The report was so loud that some looked skywards to see if an airship was •about, dropping bombs. The Gilmer hoys hurriedly left their abode for the scene of the explosion, and found that their milk stand on which were about six cans containing milk had been blown up. Two or three cans were rendered useless and the others were badly battered. The presumption is that a charge, and a heavy one at that, of dynamite had been placed under the stand pud a time fuse lighted. Small buildings near by were shaken severely. The modern Guy Fawkes element on this road have not had any firework displays now for some time, the last exhibition was the Kina road factory when a heavy explosive charge was placed in the test.room and the test bottles were blown to smithereens.
