FIRE BRIGADE CONGRESS.

THE ANNUAL REPORT.

Timaru, February 22. The sixth annual conference of the Fire Brigades opened this morning. The report. showed assets at £853, an increase for the year of £317. Brigades on the roll total 133, six more than the previous year. Fourteen members had earned gold stars for 25 years’ service. Nearly 200 members had responded to the Empire call, and brigades are to keep these members good on the books. It is still raining heavily, and the outlook is rather bad for the outdoor festivities.
