STRATFORD DOMAIN BOARD

BOARD’S ANNUAL REPORT. At the annual meeting of the Domain Board yesterday, there were present: —Messrs R. McK. Morison, P. Thomson and T. H. Penn. In the absence of Mr G. N. Curtis, Mr R. McK. Morison was voted to the chair. A complaint was received that a bull, the property of one of the tenants, was dangerous.—The owner was instructed to have it removed. Accounts totalling £lO Os 3d were passed for payment. The annual report and balance-sheet was adopted. The annual report of the Board’s operations for the year showed that trees had been, felled and plantations thinned out where necessary; hedges trimmed; fern and scrub cut; fences repaired and trees planted; and notice boards prohibiting cycling on the paths in King Edwards Park were put u i>- ■■■'••—- : It is intended during the ensuing year to re-gravel the paths in King Edward Park at an early date. Other improvements will comprise, planting, extension of walks, erection of seats etc. A new gate is to be placed at the Regan Street entrance to Victoria Pgrk. The Stratford Croquet „ Club was granted a further piece of ground in Victoria Park North,, and tennis courts have been laid down thereon. It is proposed to consider the question of bridging Victoria Lake when funds permit. The Board’s total assets amounted to £59 Is Bd. and liabilties £6 5s std. The statement of receipts and expenditure showed a balance brought forward from 31st December, 1913, of f|lo 7s Id. The receipts for the year totalled £lO4 Os 4d (rents of reserves or pastures £79 9s 4d; grazing dues and gate money £llj 10s, miscellaneous £l3 Is Od). The expenditure amounted to £7B Is Id (new works: material and tools £1 15s lOd; maintenance: Wages £44 17s lid; tools £ls 19s 4d; miscellaneous £5 2s lid; stationery 3s 9d; secretary’s salary £9 11s 4d; bank charge 10s). The, balance on December 31st, 1914, amounted to £3O 0s Id. | The permanent improvements now existing on the Domain are: About five miles fencing, fifteen acres of plantations, football grounds, suspension bridge, croquet and tennis lawns, seats, paths, etc. Victoria Park is used for cricket, football, sports, tennis and croquet. King Edward Park for hockey, band concerts, picnics, and promenade. Other portions are used for grazing purposes. The area of the domain is 8G acres 21 perches, of which 4G acres is leased, particulars of which are as follows Co-op. store,'4 acres 2 roods, annual rental £9; C. M. Wood, 4 acres 2 roods, £lO ;G. Arden, 18 acres 2 roods 13 perches, £2B; N. Collins, 1, acre 33 perches, £5; W. H/ H. Young, 4 acres 2 roods, £G; J. Hume, Y> acV(fs r ,'34 ! perches, £10; J. Eawkner, 6 acresroods, £lO, the total yearly rental amounting to £7B, Lessees in .some cases are required to keep fences in repair, and clear noxious weeds. Conditions are generally carried out to the Board’s satisfaction.
