A young man, named James Henry, apprentice at Boon’s timber factory, met with a slight accident this morning. His right hand, cam,e in contact with the “buzzer” on the planer, with the result that his little finger was amputated at the second joint.
Mr Norton, foreman carpenter at Mr J. Boon’s, underwent an operation on. Wednesday evening, hut is now progressing favourably.
Weather forecast.—Decreasing moderate to strong winds prevailing. The weather will probably he cool and changeable hut should improve. Cold night. Barometer has a rising tendency,—Bates, Wellington.
Yesterday afternoon three rinks representing the Stratford Bowling Club visited Manaia, and played a match with the Manaia Club. The match resulted in a win for Manaia of 71 to 61 ■a v t , v points.
