PARTICULARS OF RECENT ENGAGEMENT.

Pee Press Association. Wellington, February 18. The Minister for Defence is advised that an armed landing party from H.M.S. Philomel came in contact with the enemy, who was in much greater force. The officers and men behaved very well; indeed, retired under cover of the ship's guns. Two were killed as previously reported, and three wounded. Thewounded are doing well. The erieriiy's casualties were at least 26 killed and many more wounded.

By Gazette Exti'aordinary issued today the following additional regulations have been made under the War Begulations Act, 1914:—"N0.' person shall sell any intoxicating liquor to any member of the defence forces, or to any member of the expeditionary forces when in uniform for consumption elsewhere than in the premises where it is sold ;no person shall give or supply or act as agent for the purchase of any intoxicating liquor for any member of the defence forces when in uniform for consumption elsewhere than on the premises where it is given or supplied or purchased.."
