ASHBURTON STOCK SALE. - Per Press Association. Ashburton, February 1(5. At the Ashburton weekly stock mar. ket to-day the price of fat sheep fell from Is to 5s on last week’s rates. All the freezing buyers were present, but took no part in the sale, and the larger part of the yarding was passed in. For a small entry of store sheep there was little demand, even at the low prices asked by vendors.
RECORD WOOL PRICES AT DUNEDIN. Dunedin, February 1(5. The third of the Dunedin series o: wool sales were held to-day, when 8917 bales wore offered. Not so many buyers wore operating as at the previous sale, most of the wool going to a few of the bigger men. There was a further general advance of Id to 2d per lb., some classes showing as much as .'id. The demand was- principally for super half-bred and super crossbred in light condition. All pieces were in exceptionally strong demand at prices which also averaged Id to 2d above those ruling at last stile. One contributing factor in the rise in prices this morning is said to be the presence of two or three buyers, who were apparently buying practically without limits. Merino and come-backs showed little or no change, and though there was slightly better demand for a few good lots of merino, the market for this class cannot be quoted as showing any change./' 'The highest price obtained so far in tho.Doifmnion this season was 15i|d for a ten-bale' lot of super halfbred ewe. First combing half-bred fetched 14fd, first combing quarterbred 14id, first combing half-bred ewe 144d> first combing hogget A whole clip (194 bales) sold on behalf of Mr Acton Adams, of Milden station, Heriot, averaged 14d. This included fleece, bellies, pieces and seedy pieces, and the result is said to he easily a record for the Dominion.
