ARREST OF 1300 BELGIANS ESv GAPING FROM HOLLAND. A NUMBER SHOT.
United Phess Association. (Received 1 2 noon). Amsterdam, February 12. Thirteen hundred young Belgians were arrested while trying to escape to Holland and twenty.five were shot between Turnhout and Maeseyck whilst making a similar attempt. A number of smugglers were shot at the same time.
MISCELLANEOUS. Amsterdam, February 12. A British airman dropped several bombs at Walcheren. One dropped on the canal and exploded but caused no damage. A British airman also bombed a fort at Antwerp, killing thirty-live soldiers. The Telegraaf’s Sluis correspondent states that it is reported the German military administration has quitted Ostend for Bruges. The Belgian army is now estimated at 100,000. Berlin advices state that there are 11000 permanently incapacitated French prisoners assembled at Constance in readiness for exchanges foi German prisoners through Switzerland. The British prisoners are to assemble at Liege on 14th for exchange through Holland. DISAPPOINTED GERMANS ON THE STAFF. - j (Received 10.40 a.m.) ' j Paris, February 12. \ M. Hanotaux writes that lie lias j received information from Berlin, | stating that the general staff is divid- | ed, and the chiefs are being mutually ( upbraided bitterly, sometimes 'fnri- I on sly, owing to disappointments at the slowness of the campaign.
